Ylang-Ylang essential oil grade III, an essential oil produced after 6 to 12 hours of distillation, is the grade most often found on Amazon and Alibaba and produced en masse when you see "Ylang Ylang Oil." This is because it is the tails or the tail-end of the still schedule and is the inferior grade that still carries the minimum effective dose for cosmetic and soaps and relaxing aromas. The fragrance is lighter than the other. It is the right quality to use in cosmetics and soap making. This or even more watered down EO's are what you will commonly find for sale online.

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil from Madagascar's Northern Tropics.

Ylang-ylang essential oil is a fragrant and versatile oil derived from the flowers of the Cananga odorata tree.

It is widely used in aromatherapy, perfumes, and cosmetic products due to its sweet, floral aroma and therapeutic properties.

Why should you purchase from KOY's Madagascar farm?

Our plantation not only supports local farmers, but is far cleaner and more actually organic and sustainable, and more green-grown in a natural wild jungle habitat setting, than those growers and chemically-induced flowering mega plantations in India, China, and Africa.

We distill ourselves on-site in Madagascar with our own equipment!

YY Grade III =

  1. Aromatic Profile:

    • Ylang Ylang I: This fraction has a sweeter, more floral aroma and is closer in scent profile to "Ylang Ylang Extra," the first and most prized fraction collected.
    • Ylang Ylang III: This fraction has a heavier, somewhat less sweet scent, with woodier and more earthy notes compared to the earlier fractions.
  2. Chemical Composition:

    • The chemical profile of each fraction varies. As the distillation process continues, lighter aromatic molecules are collected first, and heavier molecules are collected in later fractions.
    • Ylang Ylang I: Higher in esters compared to the III fraction.
    • Ylang Ylang III: Contains more sesquiterpenes, which give it its heavier aroma.
  3. Therapeutic Properties:

    • Because of the differences in chemical composition, the therapeutic properties might also differ. For instance, esters are known for their calming and balancing properties, so Ylang Ylang I might have more pronounced effects in these areas.

While Ylang Ylang I or Extra might be preferred in high-end perfumery for its sweeter and more floral aroma, Ylang Ylang III has its place in various applications, especially when a more robust, earthier note is desired.

Fraction III, being a later fraction, contains a higher proportion of heavier compounds and a lower concentration of the lighter, more volatile aroma compounds. This results in a less intense aroma and potentially weaker therapeutic effects compared to Fraction I.

Aroma: Fraction I is typically more aromatic and has a stronger scent compared to Fraction III.

We send the ylang to your door in sealed canisters or bottles depending on the volume ordered. Shipping is included.
